130-foot-high Lotus Shaped Library in Suzhou,
Jiangsu Province, China
The Binglin Library is located in the Dushu Lake campus of Soochow University. It is named after Mr. Cyrus Tang’s father. It has a shape of a "crystal lotus". The library covers an area of 2.42 hectares, with a total construction area of 32,000 square meters, 8 floors above ground and one basement level. It has a collection of 750,000 books, mainly humanities and arts, special collections of ancient books and periodicals, specializing in chemistry, chemical engineering, and biomedicine. There are more than 2,000 reading seats, more than 1,500 Chinese and foreign newspapers and periodicals, and 145 databases.
