Establishing Connection Between Clinical Practice &
Fundamental Science

This is one of sixteen designated projects under the National “125” Priority Projects. The project’s main focus is on key issues relating to tumors, metabolic diseases, cardiovascular and cerebro-vascular diseases, their origins, development and changes, and to create a public platform that is systematic, sizeable and integrated. It will establish a seamless connection between clinical practice and fundamental science. By improving the ability to diagnose severe diseases, people’s health will be better protected.

After nearly five years of construction of the National Major Science and Technology Institute for Translational Medicine (Shanghai), the facility has formed a facility technology system with large-scale equipment, integrated core functions, and systematic technical capabilities, realizing the integration of upstream and downstream from basic research to clinical application research. The complete technology chain of translational medicine research has basically established a national-level comprehensive translational medicine research base based in Shanghai.
